Gunning Bedford, Jr.

1747-1812

Gunning Bedford, Jr., was a patriotic statesman of the Revolution. He was chosen governor of Delaware in 1796, and he discharged the duties of his office to the general satisfaction. IIe was then appointed district judge of the United States court, and he continued to hold that office until his death in 1815. He was one of the ablest patriots that the little State of Delaware produced during the Revolutionary period.
